Maple Leaf Foods is a leading consumer packaged food company, headquartered in Toronto with operations across Canada and in the United States, United Kingdom, Asia and Mexico. We make high quality, great tasting, nutritious and innovative food products and are proud to have our leading, national brands such as Maple Leaf, Schneiders, and Dempster’s in the cupboards and refrigerators of our consumers. People also know us by our well-known and trusted national household brands such as Olivieri and Prime Naturally, and regional brands including POM, Shopsy’s, Mitchell’s Gourmet Foods, Ben’s, Bon Matin, Burns, Chevalier and Hygrade which are sold locally, and the New York Bakery Co. in the United Kingdom.

Innovation is a key focus and we launch around 100 or more new products a year in a constant effort to revitalize product categories and create new ones. Products such as Dempster’s WholeGrains Prebiotic and WholeGrains Ancient Grains breads, which are rich in minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, fibre and complex carbohydrates and convenient meal solutions, such as Maple Leaf Simply Fresh are great examples of product innovations that are driving category leadership. An exciting focus of our innovation platform is the ThinkFOOD! centre which will be home to the Company’s product innovation and culinary experts. This world-class product development centre is designed to foster collaboration with our customers and accelerate innovation across Maple Leaf’s global bakery and protein businesses. ThinkFOOD! will open in early 2009.

Our businesses are organized into three major groups:

  • Meat Products Group, which includes the value-added fresh meats, chilled and ready to cook products, chilled ready to serve products and packaged meats.
  • Bakery Products Group, which includes fresh bread, rolls and ethnic breads, bagels, croissants and morning goods, premium artisan bakery products, frozen par-baked and fully-baked goods and fresh pasta and sauces. Maple Leaf Foods owns 89.8% of Canada Bread Company, Limited one of Canada’s leading bread companies.
  • Agribusiness Group, which includes our rendering, biodiesel production and hog production operations.

Maple Leaf Foods customers are located in many countries worldwide, with the majority of our sales in Canada. Products are also sold in countries such as the U.S., the U.K., Japan and Mexico. Maple Leaf Foods is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) under the symbol MFI.
